There is [are] 〜. の導入場面

生徒たちにとってなじみのある、英語の教科書の表紙を使って "There is [are] 〜." を導入した。

教師： （教科書の表紙を生徒たちに見せながら。）
　　　　Look at the cover of the textbook.

　　　　What can you see in this picture?

生徒たち： The earth. Boy. Girl. Jinkoueisei.　　

教師： O.K. How many girls can you see in this picture?

生徒たち： One.

教師： You can see a girl in this picture.

　　　　There is a girl in this picture.

　　　　How many boys can you see in this picture?

生徒たち： Two.

教師： You can see two boys in this picture.

　　　　　There are two boys in this picture.

　　　　（まとめて言い聞かせるように。）

　　　　There is a girl in this picture.

　　　　There are two boys in this picture.

＜板書＞

There is a girl in this picture. 　There are two boys in this picture.

There is [are] 〜 ( + 場所 ). 　（________ に）〜がある［いる］。

　"artificial satellite"（人工衛星） という語彙も教え、"There are two artificial satellites in this picture."も口頭練習で行った。

　「There is [are] のあとには、この世に一つしかない特定のものはきません。」と簡単に説明を加え、"The earth" がこの構文で使用できないことを説明した。
